Scott Kuykendall

Scott Kuykendall is a native Texan and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Design Communication from Texas Tech University. Scott continued his education at the Art Center College of Design, where he graduated with a BFA Honors degree in Graphics and Packaging Design from its campus in La Tour-de-Peilz, Switzerland, on the shores of Lake Geneva.

Upon graduating from Art Center Europe, he was asked to teach design and typography classes there, and followed that up by working with the London office of Addison Design, creating corporate branding and packaging. After returning to the United States to live and work in a Connecticut suburb of New York City, Scott provided print and web design services for corporate and nonprofit entities, including publishing, financial services, healthcare, pharmaceutical, insurance, retail import, educational and small business clients. Scott’s work has been recognized by the Connecticut Art Director’s Club, Print Magazine, the AR100 Annual Report Award Show, and the Connecticut League of Historical Organizations.

In Connecticut, Scott’s ownership and renovation of a 1915 Arts and Crafts home on the shore of Long Island Sound led to his interest in historic preservation. He subsequently served as a board member, then as President of the Norwalk Historical Society, organizing a strategic master plan for the nonprofit with a grant from CT Humanities.

Scott’s interest in historic preservation has led to an expansion of his portfolio of capabilities, most recently in a series of interpretive exhibits, signage and website design for a museum and historic sites in New England. That work - and other examples of his approach to visual problem solving - can be seen at www.oxygendesign.net

Scott is also a fine artist and painter. He is fascinated by the Pacific Northwest, where he finds inspiration, especially from its vast expanses of coastline. His landscapes can be found at www.colorofwhite.com.
